A lot of people got laid off at the end of 2008 and in the early part of 2009. A lot of the people who were affected couldn't find work and ended up in the unemployment lines. Some people made the decision to instead get new training from a local truck driving school. Our focus here is to help those that attended a truck driving school find a great truck driving job.



I was transferred to the active reserve for the next six years. I lived in Rockaway Beach, NY and I was assigned to Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. When I reported to Fort Hamilton I explained that I lived in Rockaway and Fort Tilden in Rockaway was just minutes from my home. Could I be transferred there which would save a lot of driving time. Within a week I was assigned to an JD Truck Training Centre anti-aircraft battery at Tilden. I would be trained as a lineman stringing communication wire. I could hardly wait.

How long does it take to get certified? Depending on the school, it could take about 90 days. It varies from school to school. In good schools, there is the desk classes and then time on the road.

Professional truck drivers are required to obtain a CDL - a commercial driver's license in order to maintain truck driver jobs. To get a CDL, you must take a test at your local DMV, which consists of a written portion and a driving portion. Though schooling is not required, it is highly recommended you attend a Truck driving school before you take the test so you can receive proper training to help you pass.

Because really, why should the state care if you can do a blindside parallel park? It's not like you're going to be using this maneuver to jockey into a parking space on the public roadways.

Becoming a good HR Truck Licence driver, especially over the road or regional, requires far more knowledge than most people outside the industry would ever begin to imagine. Every state has its own set of rules, regulations, and procedures. Go from New York to Los Angeles and you will cross through about a dozen states. A former homeless man had been volunteering at a very small church where he spent time during the day sorting through donated items for the Thrift Store that funded the ministry. The man had walked past a church yard sale earlier in the morning, stopped to share information about his small church and to let them know that they could use any unsold items.

All in all we know that you can make a lot of money trucking. At first you will be running right along with the school of hard knocks. But as you go along with it and learn from your mistakes you will become a pro. Trucking will become second nature to you as you already have met the CDL requirements.
